Goodwill Temporary Services has an opening for a Child Support Technician position available immediately. This position is a FT TEMPORARY position at the Office of the Attorney General on a contract to end on August 31st 2013. Pay is $11.50/hr, no benefits included. Excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door for a state job! Position is in a fast paced environment that deals with more than 20,000 child support cases. Must have excellent computer skills and at least 3 years experience doing office/clerical duties, preferably in a legal office. Main duties will include scanning, indexing, and verifying scans as well as working in the file room until the digital switch over in mid summer. High school diploma required, Associates degree or Bachelor's degree preferred. Potential applicant must have a completely clean background (no felonies, misdemeanors, etc.) Must be available for an interview in Waco at short notice. This is a state set aside contract so preference is given to people with certain qualifying conditions (ex. asthma, arthritis, orthopedic disorders, lupus, cosmetic disfigurement, epilepsy, hepatitis, lung disease, cancer, behavioral disorders, diabetes, head injuries, heart conditions, diagnosed back problems, mental/psychiatric disorders, vision/hearing impairments, learning disabilities, etc.). Full Job Description below as listed on the OAG's webpage.CHILD SUPPORT TECHNICIAN IIGENERAL DESCRIPTIONPerforms moderately complex (journey-level) child support program technical assistance work. Work involves preparing legal and administrative documents and correspondence; opening cases in the child support masterfile system; responding to inquiries regarding case and payment status; and coordinating dockets and paternity testing. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMEDReviews child support cases to ensure completeness of information and documentation, and obtains missing information or documents from parents, court records, and other sources.Prepares cases for court, which may include filing pleadings, setting cases on docket, monitoring service, and attending court as neededMonitors computer databases to identify new or updated locate information.Enters, retrieves, and updates child support case information in child support computer systems.Verifies locate and employment information using all available sources. Performs money-handling duties to process child support payments.Researches court orders.Coordinates, schedules, and monitors paternity tests; processes and distributes test results.Files pleadings with court clerks.Responds to inquiries concerning child support cases, provides case status and payment information, and explains child support policies and procedures.Initiates a trace on missing or returned warrants for child support payments.Assists assistant attorneys general and child support officers in preparing cases for court and processing cases after court.Assists in locating absent parents through the use of correspondence and telephone contact and by researching electronic databases.Assists with conducting seminars and interviewing custodial parents to gather additional information about absent parents.May initiate a trace on missing or returned warrants for child support payments.Performs related work as assigned.GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINESExperience and EducationExperience in administrative support, legal secretary, or child support program work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred. Education and experience may be substituted for one another.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of office practices and administrative procedures; of legal practices and terminology; and of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.Skill in use of computers for word processing and data entry retrieval.Ability to provide professional customer service, to communicate effectively, and to train others.
